The role

We are looking for an Apprentice Fitter to join our Operations team in an established family-owned business in Leeds.  Wilson Power Solutions are a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical power distribution equipment and pioneers of super low loss amorphous transformer technology. Our flagship product saves money, saves energy, cuts carbon and offers an innovative solution to the worldwide challenge of reducing energy wastage.

The apprentice will be working towards:

  • Fitting of various types of distribution and power transformers
  • Preparing work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • Assembly of components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies
  • Maintaining the highest level of workmanship standards and product quality ensuring products are produced and delivered OTIF to the customers’ requirements.
  • Checking and completing all paperwork associated with the works order
  • Performing area housekeeping activities, including the prompt reporting of problems, shortages or equipment breakdown
  • Using general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the fitting role
  • Maintain and adhere to Company Health and Safety standards

Apprenticeship Study:

  • You will study a 4-year programme through a Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship.
  • Year One to Three will be on day-release at Appris in Bradford where you will study a level 2 and level 3 diploma in advanced manufacturing engineering
  • You will work towards competence in the workplace and achieve a level 3 NVQ in either mechanical or electrical engineering

  • Understanding the importance of working as a team to achieve productivity standards/targets
  • Have a ‘Can do’ attitude using initiative
  • Be professional and possess a polite and positive attitude
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • 18+ years-old (at time of starting apprenticeship in summer 2026)
