Wilson Power Solutions Group HQ is based in the UK and has manufacturing facilities in England and India. Owning our manufacturing pipeline allows us to remain agile and adaptable as we service our rapidly changing industry. WESTLAND SQUARE HQ - LEEDS, UK

Wilson Power Solution’s central engineering hub

Wilson Power Solutions' Westland Square location serves as the company's headquarters. Our team at this site drives innovation, customisation, and customer service excellence, focusing on the quality, finish, and test of our transformer offer. Serving as our central operations hub, the Yorkshire-based facility spans over 5,500 square metres and is home to over 135 skilled professionals. Significant investments over recent years have enhanced production capabilities to ensure Wilson Power Solutions remains at the forefront of our industry.

Customer service excellence

The site is thoughtfully designed to optimise production with three distinct production bays departmentalised by transformer type and size, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency and output. Build, testing and paint capacities are supported by two fully equipped test bays, two dedicated paint booths with heating capabilities, six overhead cranes and six pillar cranes across the site. Further workshop development includes a new staff canteen, changing rooms with lockers and showers, and additional offices and meeting rooms added in 2024/5.

Our Westland Square facility houses our sales and commercial teams, which support customer enquiries in the UK and Europe. Our engineering team of mechanical, electrical, and technical engineers is based in the UK and supports projects with customisation and application-fit designs. In recent years, we built out our site team to expand the service level we provide for power transformer installations and warranty jobs. We remain committed to building out our teams to provide the best service to our customers.

New Leeds facility

We acquired the site adjacent to our existing headquarters in Westland Square. This investment represents the next chapter in our commitment to innovation and growth. This new facility will unlock additional production capacity, enabling us to meet the growing demands of the UK and Europe's renewable markets and beyond.

With a pledged investment of nearly £15 million, the new facility will span 5,000 square meters and focus on manufacturing BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) and Data Centre type transformers. This strategic expansion will double our UK manufacturing capacity and position Wilson Power Solutions as a key enabler of the nation’s Net Zero ambitions.

Sustainability sits at the core of Westland Square’s operations, with EV charging points and a roof-mounted 65kWp Solar Photovoltaics system accounting for 30% of the site's energy requirements. We have been investing in the renovation and expansion of our office spaces and shop floor to accommodate the accelerating growth.

RODLEY LOGISTICS CENTRE - LEEDS, UK

Strategical stock availability

A key component in supporting Wilson Power Solutions’ operations, Rodley Logistics Centre is a sprawling 6,000-square-meter facility designed for efficiency and scalability. With 3,200 square meters of dedicated storage space and an outdoor yard, Rodley can house over 600 transformers, all meticulously organised by size and type by dedicated full-time staff.

Rodley Logistics Centre underwent substantial renovations in 2022, which included new concrete flooring, new staff offices and a refurbished outer yard which can accommodate HGVs and the delivery of overseas containers. This has allowed us to free up capacity in our Westland Square HQ to focus on production. This streamlined system ensures greater stock availability and quicker access to critical inventory.

£18 million investment in growth & sustainability

Brand new factory

Key to unlocking the next phase of growth, our new state-of-the-art WPS India manufacturing facility will significantly enhance production capabilities, supporting transformers up to 70MVA and 132kV. The manufacturing facility and office spaces are expected to be ready before the end of 2025, and operations will move from our existing factory in Chennai to offer brand-new infrastructure. Designed from the ground up with cutting-edge technology and sustainability at its core, this new factory represents our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

The facility incorporates advanced production lines, modern offices, and purpose-built spaces, all tailored to optimise operations and meet evolving market demands. Thoughtfully designed with a central courtyard and strategically placed windows, the site improves natural airflow, reducing the need for air conditioning and minimising its environmental footprint. The manufacturing space features new winding machines for foil, layer, and disc winding and a dedicated winding bay with an ISO 8 class clean room for controlled temperature, humidity, and dust.

Wilson Power Solutions India 2 New Facility

Specialised fabrication workshop

Once the move to the new factory has taken place, allowing for more than three times the output of the old factory, the existing Wilson Power Solutions site in Chennai, which is 5,000 sqm, will be repurposed into a dedicated fabrication workshop to produce transformer tanks. This will allow us to further expand our capabilities to design and build in-house tanks, ensuring unparalleled quality, customisation flexibility, and security of supply.

FACILITY OVERVIEW

Further supporting our people and operations, the new factory will feature an on-site hospital capable of accommodating up to 10 individuals and a dedicated vegetable garden to promote sustainability and wellness. Two additional buildings, totalling seven floors, will house offices, training facilities, a canteen, a crèche room, and other amenities. The site is designed to facilitate future expansion, while a roof terrace offers a modern and functional addition for employees. This landmark project underscores our long-term vision and reinforces WPS India’s role as a cornerstone of Wilson Power Solutions’ global manufacturing strategy.

EHV & DNO approved transformers

Wilson Power Solutions uses Toshiba's DNO approvals to supply iDNO and ICP projects with unit-type transformers approved by UKPN, SSE, and SPEN. As part of the partnership, Wilson Power Solutions is the service arm for DNO-supplied transformers in the UK, utilising our site engineers and quality experts from our Leeds facility.

Through this exclusive partnership, we supply Toshiba-manufactured power transformers (including Extra-High Voltage, up to 400kV) to projects in the UK and Europe. Our engineering team works closely with Toshiba to custom-design transformers for UK and European customer requirements. Our site team has a wealth of experience managing the offloading, installation, assembly, and pre-commissioning of power transformers.

Their annual production capacity of 30,000 MVA (2022) is supported by NABL-accredited in-house testing labs and a dedicated test bay that accommodates transformers exceeding 750kV. This allows Toshiba to consistently meet the rigorous standards required for DNOs, power transformers and EHV applications.
