Charing Cross Hospital

Charing Cross Hospital is a renowned teaching hospital located in Hammersmith, London. As part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, it offers a wide range of acute and specialist care services, including accident and emergency (A&E), oncology, cardiology, and neurology. The hospital is also recognised for its medical research and education and is closely affiliated with Imperial College London.

In 1970, Charing Cross Hospital established the UK's first dedicated infertility clinic, founded by the esteemed obstetrician Mike Pawson. This initiative marked a significant advancement in infertility management and reproductive medicine within the NHS. Charing Cross Hospital in London has implemented several initiatives to enhance its heating systems and reduce carbon emissions, including energy efficiency measures and installing heat pumps and solar panels.

In August 2022, the hospital installed two water source heat pumps on the roof of its 68-meter tower block. These pumps supply the majority of heating and hot water for the tower. Additionally, four air source heat pumps were previously installed on-site, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and improved local air quality.

Heat source projects present a greener way to utilise various sources of heat for a range of applications. These projects emphasise energy efficiency and sustainability, in the long run, save customers money. We’re pleased to have supported this project in London with the manufacture and delivery of a 2000kVA Wilson T2 Ecotrans® Distribution Transformer.
