Enviro Plastic Recycling Wilson T2 distribution transformers

PET recycling facility

Enviroo's PET recycling plant at the Plastic Park is part of Peel NRE's Protos energy and resource hub near Ellesmere Port. The facility is designed to recycle 100% of the PET it will receive from used drinks bottles back into certified food-grade material for new bottles. Wilson Power Solutions supplied three transformers for the site's power infrastructure, working with our customer D&A Systems Limited, who installed the units.

The transformers are rated at 2500kVA, 2000kVA and 1600kVA, operate at 11,000/433V and are close-coupled with RN2d RMUs to form compact packaged substations supplying power to the plant. Each transformer is filled with MIDEL ester fluid rather than mineral oil. This readily biodegradable alternative has a higher fire point, improving fire safety while helping to maintain the facility's sustainability goals.

By turning local PET waste back into food-grade packaging, Enviroo's plant will help address a long-standing challenge in the UK, where billions of bottles are used each year but much of the material has historically been exported rather than recycled domestically.
