Farnham is a 20MW/40MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located in Surrey, UK. Developed by Harmony Energy, the project was successfully energised in May 2023 and became fully operational by the end of June 2023. The Farnham BESS is operated using Tesla's Autobidder platform, which employs algorithmic trading to optimise energy storage and discharge.
Farnham plays a crucial role in supporting grid stability by storing energy and releasing it during peak demand periods. In addition to its technical contributions, Harmony Energy Income Trust (HEIT) launched a £5,000-a-year fund to support local community groups within a 5-mile radius of the Farnham BESS, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement and support. Farnham features six hermetically sealed 4.2MVA 33kV/480V-480V Wilson T2 Ecotrans® Large Distribution MV Transformers and two 100kVA 33kV/433V Auxiliary Transformers.
