50MW/50MWh Fordtown BESS

Fordtown BESS is a 50MW facility near Kintore in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Initially developed by Intelligent Land Investments Group (ILI), the project received planning approval from the Garioch Area Planning Committee. The approved development includes a BYD battery energy storage compound, substation, security cameras, access track, fencing, and landscaping. In October 2021, ILI sold the Fordtown project to Eelpower, a UK-based independent power producer specialising in flexible energy solutions.

Fordtown is strategically situated 500 meters west of the Kintore National Grid substation, facilitating efficient grid connection. The facility plays a crucial role in enhancing grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources by storing excess energy and releasing it during peak demand periods. We supplied the site with a 2500kVA 33kV/400V Wilson Auxiliary Transformer, close-coupled with an LV cabinet.
