Ultra Rapid EV Charging in Northern Ireland

IONITY announced plans to invest £3 million in EV charging within Northern Ireland, starting with Belfast and Toome. The company’s mission to build a comprehensive charging infrastructure features their 350kW ultra-rapid chargers, capable of charging a Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes. Supporting the Belfast investment, Wilson Power Solutions supplied two 2MVA Wilson d2 (iDNO) Unit Type Distribution® Transformers with UKPN specification and close coupled with a 3200A Feeder Pillar and Lucy Electric Sabre VRN2a switchgear.

Scope of Work

Two 2MVA Wilson d2 (iDNO) Unit Type Distribution® Transformers following UKPN specifications with Sabre VRN2a RMU and feeder pillar

Wilson Power Solutions supplies a range of DNO-approved unit-type distribution transformers to iDNOs and ICPs. The transformers feature LV and HV on the same side and have been approved by UKPN, SSE, and SPEN. To support EV projects, we offer packaged substation solutions with ring main units and LV cabinets or feeder pillars, free issued by the customer or supplied directly by us.
