Wilson T2 EcoTrans Distribution Transformers for Jamesfield Battery Energy Storage System

49MW/98MWh Jamesfield BESS

Jamesfield Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a 49MW/98MWh facility located near Abernethy, Scotland. Developed through a joint venture between TagEnergy and Harmony Energy, the project began operations in phases starting in November 2023 and achieved full energisation by early February 2024. The system employs 26 two-hour duration Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, integrated with Tesla's Autobidder AI software for real-time trading and control. RES, an independent renewable energy company, handles the asset management.

Jamesfield BESS plays a crucial role in stabilising the grid and advancing the UK's transition to renewable energy sources. We supplied the project with thirteen 4.2MVA 33kV/480-480V Wilson Ecotrans® MV Transformers hermetically sealed and filled with FR3 natural ester, with the site power being reliably connected by two 100kVA Wilson Auxiliary Transformers.
