The HV infrastructure project at the Peterborough P4 data centre exhibits a collaboration between Wilson Power Solutions and Anord Mardix. The data centre is designed to house a total of 3 MWIT across 1,500 m² of IT Space. It is a prime example of how cutting-edge power solutions can enhance energy efficiency and resilience in critical IT environments.

Wilson Power Solutions supplied a range of transformers to support the data centre's energy-intensive operations, including four 2.8MVA 11kV/417V and eight 2MVA 11kV/417V KNAN Wilson T2 EcoTrans® Transformers. The transformers were supplied hermetically sealed to prevent the ingress of moisture, air, and contaminants into the transformer tank. This reduces maintenance requirements, improves cooling efficiency, offers a longer service life and enhances safety. The project also included bunds that can take 110% of the oil capacity with a syphon oil filter and switch for environmental and operational safety.

Data centres have some of the highest energy consumption rates of any industry. Continuous operations require an uninterrupted power supply and efficient energy management. Given the mission-critical nature of these facilities, power reliability, efficiency, and redundancy are essential for ensuring seamless operations and safeguarding sensitive data processing tasks.

Building on our experience from previous data centre projects across the UK and overseas, we provided a tailored power distribution solution designed to meet the specific requirements of the Peterborough site. Various ancillaries were also fitted, including prismatic oil level indicators, pressure relief devices, and winding temperature indicators, ensuring optimal operational monitoring and protection.
