Wilson Power Transformers at Milton keynes distribution centre

South Caldecotte Net Zero Carbon business park

This high-voltage connection is a project for four industrial facilities at PLP MK in South Caldecotte, Milton Keynes. The 135-acre site features four units and office spaces, 17 acres of lowland meadows, and 3.8 kilometers of pedestrian and cycle paths integrated into the Milton Keynes Redway network. Winvic undertook the construction work, aiming to achieve Net Zero Carbon in construction, aligning with the UK Green Building Council's Net Zero Buildings Framework. Measures include sourcing low-carbon materials, utilising green suppliers, and employing local labor. The buildings are designed to support tenants in achieving Net Zero Carbon operations, with roofs capable of accommodating up to 100% photovoltaic panels.

Our site team captured some spectacular sunrise photos during the installation of two 15MVA Wilson Power Transformers we designed, built and delivered to the site. These 33/11.5kV Power Transformers were fitted with an HV on-load tap changer, conservator, Buchholz relay, Ashridge OTI and WTI, a pressure relief device and a magnetic oil gauge. Our experienced site engineers undertook the erection of the transformer, fitting of components, and pre-commissioning tests.
