We supplied fourteen 4.2MVA 33kV/480-480V Wilson T2 MV Transformers and one 100kVA Wilson Auxiliary Transformer for the Roaring Hill project. All transformers are hermetically sealed, ensuring reduced maintenance and enhanced protection against moisture and oxidation. Additionally, each unit was also installed with a bund, designed to contain any potential oil leaks, preventing ground contamination and supporting compliance with environmental regulations.
Initially acquired from RES in 2021, Roaring Hill BESS secured a T-4 Capacity Market Auction for 2021/22. The facility employs a system of Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, paired with Tesla’s advanced Autobidder AI software, enabling real-time energy trading and autonomous control. The site delivers critical grid balancing and support services, helping to maintain frequency stability and accommodate increasing levels of intermittent renewable generation such as wind and solar. As the UK energy system evolves to meet growing electrification demands, Roaring Hill plays an essential role in enhancing grid resilience and enabling greater penetration of renewables.
We are proud to be a key supplier for this project, contributing reliable, high-performance transformer technology to help deliver efficient and future-ready power infrastructure for the UK’s clean energy ambitions.
