Sandon Brook Solar Farm

Sandon Brook Solar Farm is located on the outskirts of West Hanningfield and has a capacity of 49.9MW of clean, renewable energy. The site, operated by Low Carbon, covers approximately 240 acres. The solar farm will be able to provide enough energy to power over 16,500 homes each year, avoiding more than 11,000 tonnes annually of CO2 emissions. The site is co-located with a Battery Energy Storage System, making up a total of 190MWh in storage capacity.

Scope of Work

60MVA 132kV/33kV Wilson Power Transformer

Our site team attended the South Essex project to install and commission a 60MVA 132kV/33kV Wilson Power Transformer, ensuring an uninterrupted energy supply. The transformer is equipped with a range of ancillaries, including a magnetic oil gauge, pressure relief device, conservator and Buchholz relay, all with alarm and trip contacts. Three site team members oversaw the installation, including the use of a HIAB to erect the transformer and carrying out a Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
