The University of Liverpool is a prestigious public university in Liverpool, England. It is a member of the Russell Group, a network of 24 leading UK universities known for their research and teaching excellence. The university offers state-of-the-art learning, research, and recreation facilities, including modern lecture theaters, laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities.

The university is currently the eighth largest energy consumer and emitter of Scope 1 and 2 carbon in the UK higher education sector. This motivated the university to set a sustainability strategy to achieve Net Zero carbon by 2035. Notable key actions focus on reducing energy consumption and investment in green technologies and sustainable infrastructure. Our long-standing partners at D&A Systems Ltd have procured 21 transformers from Wilson Power Solutions over the past decade for replacement and expansion projects for the university, with the vast majority being low-loss transformers. Upgrading to our most efficient transformers will reduce energy waste and carbon emissions while saving on costs.

One remarkable project was the replacement of an old transformer with 1000kVA Wilson e3 Ultra Low Loss Amorphous® Transformers. An impressive arrangement by D&A Systems Ltd site team that specifically dug a hole on the back of the GA drawings we provided for the project. The hole was 'just' big enough to fit the transformer, which was lifted into it to get to its permanent location in the basement, where it is given more space for operations and maintenance. This is a testament to the engineers, lifters, and handlers involved and to the precise design skills of Wilson Power Solutions.
