The University of Southampton is a Russell Group university and one of the UK’s leading research institutions. It is well known for its excellence in engineering, computer science, oceanography, and biomedical sciences. It is also a global leader in maritime studies, reflecting the city’s strong maritime history. The university's Sustainability Strategic Plan aims to achieve Net Zero for Scope 1 and 2 by 2030.

Energy losses through distribution transformers owned by the university directly impact Scope 2 emissions, and the university has implemented a few measures to address this, such as opting for low-loss amorphous transformers and switching off some transformers during the Christmas break. Our low-loss amorphous transformers are installed at the Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre, the Gower Building, and Boldrewood Innovation Campus, amongst other locations, helping the university reduce carbon emissions, energy waste, and financial costs.
