Train station

Powering a £6.55m investment in Cornwall’s railway

Penzance Station, first opened in 1852, is Britain’s southernmost railway station. National Rail and Great Western Railway (GWR) invested £6.55 million in Cornwall’s railway to build three new sidings near Long Rock Depot. These sidings enable the storage, cleaning, and maintenance of nine-carriage trains, improving the operation of longer services between London Paddington and Penzance. The project aims to boost train capacity and enhance business, tourism, and connectivity in the region.
