We supplied over 65 of the country's top universities with transformers to assist in future-proofing and decarbonising their electrical infrastructure. Universities are some of the UK’s largest, oldest, and most storied institutions, often with sprawling campuses containing separate departmental buildings with diverse energy requirements. These institutions face a unique set of challenges in the maintenance of their electrical networks; from centuries-old buildings, designed without energy efficiency in mind, to modern-day pressures from students, funders, and the government to meet carbon reduction targets including EV charging points, heat pumps, renewable integration and data centres.

18 million tonnes of CO₂e were emitted into the atmosphere in 2020/21 from 537 educational institutions, making up 2.3% of the UK's total carbon footprint. Ambitious targets have been set to curb these emissions and reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by as much as 80% by 2035. Additionally, rising energy costs place considerable strain on university resources making the need for change, both environmentally and economically, more pressing. We supplied hundreds of transformers to universities and colleges including our ultimate low loss transformers, which offer unparalleled carbon and energy savings with it being the most energy-efficient transformer in the UK.
